Jesus Salgado’s brother Alberto arrested after California family kidnap, murder
The brother of “pure evil” Jesus Salgado — charged with four counts of kidnap and murder for allegedly wiping out his former boss’s family — has been arrested as a suspected accomplice.
Alberto Salgado was arrested Thursday night by the Merced County, Calif., Sheriff’s Office in connection to the killing, it was announced Friday.
He is believed to have assisted his brother in the gruesome kidnapping and deaths of 8-month-old Aroohi Dheri; her mother, Jasleen Kaur, 27; father, Jasdeep Singh, 36; and uncle, Amandeep Singh, 39.
Alberto has been arrested and charged with criminal conspiracy, accessory and destroying evidence.
Jesus Salgado worked for the family’s trucking business, Unison Trucking Inc., but the relationship turned into a “nasty” dispute over text messages or emails, sparking a year-long feud, Merced County Sheriff Vern Warnke said.
Surveillance video shows Jesus Salgado leading the Singh brothers, who had their hands zip-tied behind their backs, into the back of Amandeep Singh’s pickup truck, authorities said.
He then returned and forced Jasleen Kaur — with her baby in her arms — from the business into the truck and again drove off.
Hours later, the same truck was found on fire in a nearby town. The family’s bodies were found on Thursday.
Local authorities called Jesus’ alleged acts “pure evil”. He had previously served eight years in prison for a 2015 armed robbery in which he held another family — whose trucking company he also had worked for before being fired — at gunpoint and threatened to kill them.
