Longtime ad exec Kent Feuerring killed in East Hampton plane crash

The pilot who was killed when his small plane plunged into a Long Island harbor has been identified as a local 57-year-old advertising executive and producer, according to police.

Kent Feuerring, of Sagaponack, was piloting the 2022 Seamax M-22 aircraft that crashed into Three Mile Harbor in East Hampton Township around 12:30 p.m. Thursday, according to the East Hampton Police Department. Nobody else was onboard.

Fuerring’s LinkedIn profile describes him as “an avid pilot of both fixed-wing aircraft and helicopters.

He worked as an advertising executive for the past 25 years for major clients across the globe including Cadillac, Tylenol, Lockheed Martin, and Kawasaki, according to the profile.

Witnesses reported the wing broke from the plane’s fuselage before the crash. Seamax Aircraft

Witnesses to Thursday’s crash said they saw the single-engine plane’s wing break off the fuselage before the aircraft spiraled uncontrollably into the water, according to police.

Officials with the Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board are investigating the crash, cops said.

Fuerring, a Harvard graduate, began his career working in Hollywood, where he was a production accountant for the Oscar-winning film GlenGarry Ross. His profile states he worked in a similar position on other movies.

Most recently, Fuerring worked for the past three years as a producer at video production company Near Future, according to his profile.
