The bands of true love cannot be broken — even by a hurricane.
Fort Myers resident Ashley Garner lost her wedding ring outside her home just days before Hurricane Ian devastated the coast of southwest Florida.
After it went missing, her husband and three young children searched their yard and garage for two days to no avail.
“I just accepted that it was gone,” Garner said. “It was only a thing. It’s replaceable, and I just let it go. We knew the hurricane was coming, so we just kind of said goodbye.”
The storm brought 150 mph winds, which sent trees and brush flying. When the skies cleared, Garner and her family went outside to clean up.
Garner’s husband, Blake, located the sparkler shortly after he began tidying up the area.
“We’re about 10 minutes into cleaning, and my husband is cleaning up the brush and the trees right next to the garage door,” Garner said. “There’s a pile of brush and trees, and he moves over one pile, and the ring was right there.”
After she was reunited with the prized possession, she took to Facebook to reflect on the message of hope it carried.
“God will provide, always have, always will,” she wrote. “If this isn’t a sign I don’t know what is … with so much devastation this gave us a little hope.”
