‘Cheers’ actress Shelley Long looks unrecognizable in rare public sighting

This is not the Shelley Long fans remember from “Cheers” or “Modern Family.”

The 73-year-old actress was spotted walking her pet Chihuahua on Wednesday, but if it weren’t for a keen eye, it’s likely no one would recognize the Emmy winner.

Photos captured the actress, who played ditzy waitress Diane Chambers on “Cheers,” cheerfully strolling in a cozy look.

Long wore a pink turtleneck, black vest, gray sweatpants, sneakers and a baseball hat.

The rare public sighting comes weeks after the 40th anniversary of “Cheers,” which premiered Sept. 30, 1982.

Long’s time on the show came with major success and recognition.

She won the comedy lead actress Emmy in 1983 and two Golden Globes for the role.

Long later went on to play Carol Brady in 1995’s “The Brady Bunch Movie” and its sequel the following year.

Amid the critical and public acclaim, Long struggled with substance abuse and overdosed on painkillers in an apparent suicide attempt in 2004.

At the time, family and friends said they could barely recognize the star, with one pal telling the Sun, “It is very sad to see this woman, who is only 55, looking like she’s turning 90.”

Since then, she had a recurring role in “Modern Family.” She plays “baby dog” in her latest project, “Give Me Pity!” which has a 2022 release date.

She also starred in the Luke Wilson movie “The Cleaner,” which came out last year.
