Irish farmers strip down for calendar to showcase ‘something genuine’

Hay Fellas!

The 2023 edition of the Irish Farmer calendar has been unveiled as have lots of bare chests across the Emerald Isle, including Gaelic hunks from Offaly, Mayo, Dublin, Wicklow, and Kilkenny.

Labeled “Agri porn” by Irish television’s Ryan Tubridy, the calendar isn’t just a monthly parade of chiseled abs and cheekbones.

“They are a mix of different body types,” creative director Ciara Ryan told The Post. “They aren’t all big and buff gym bunnies. They do farm work, and people like the reality of it. They are getting something genuine.”

Indeed, these men, some of whom have been nominated by their girlfriends, are in their natural element posing topless with goats, rabbits, sheep, and even an alpaca. In December, Santa Claus makes his inaugural appearance. And one shot features a shirtless man doing a handstand next to a horse stall while another has a ginger hunk cuddling with chickens.

“It’s not just about being sexy. There’s a bit of humor thrown in as well,” said Ryan.

And fans will be getting double the pleasure this year for the price of 12.99 Euros.

“This year the calendar is a special edition that features 23 images rather than the usual 12 images. So far, this has gone down a treat with fans and we see new orders coming in every day from all over the world.”

The first orders for 2023 came from Japan, Switzerland, and Finland, but they have a wide base of repeat customers across the world from the US, Australia, the UK, Brazil, Mainland Europe, Hong Kong, and South Africa.

The calendar was shot in 4 locations throughout the last 2 years, primarily Cornstown House, Ashbourne, Co., and has been around since 2009.

And while it’s been wildly popular at times beating One Direction, Conor McGregor, and Justin Bieber in the calendar charts, Ryan said there’s a deeper message.

“It’s a gentle reminder that we rely on these guys for food. Farmers are always needed,” said Ryan adding, “They are an essential and important part of life.”
