A Texas teen was charged with killing his mother, who was found strangled to death in the trunk of the car he was driving in Nebraska, days after the two went missing.
Tyler Roenz, 17, of Humble, Texas, was charged as an adult with murder and tampering with evidence in the death and disappearance of his mother, 49-year-old Michelle Roenz, reported Fox News Friday.
Roenz’s husband reported his wife and son missing – along with his 2011 Mazda – to the Harris County Sheriff on Oct. 13. Local authorities uncovered blood and what appeared to be human teeth in the garage of the family’s home, Fox Houston reported.
The teenager was arrested on Oct. 14, 850 miles away from their home, after leading Nebraska state troopers on a high-speed chase and crashing in Aurora, in south-central Nebraska.
Law enforcement discovered his mother’s body in the trunk.
Authorities said Michelle Roenz died from strangulation and blunt force trauma, KHOU Houston reported.
The younger Roenz is being held by the Nebraska state police pending extradition to Texas.
No motive for the alleged murder has been disclosed.
In March, the teen was charged with attempted sexual assault, ABC13 reported. He allegedly attacked an 18-year-old girl in his car, ripped off her shirt, and then kicked her in the face, according to court records.
