Mattress Mack drops f-bomb on Phillies fans after $75 million World Series bet
Mattress Mack got feisty in Philadelphia.
The Houston-area furniture store owner, who has bets that would total a $75 million payout if the Astros win the World Series, was not in the spirit of the City of Brotherly Love after the Phillies defeated the Astros to take a 2-1 lead in the series at Citizens Bank Park on Tuesday night.
“F–k you!” Mattress Mack could be seen yelling at a group of Phillies fans, who presumably were heckling him before filming of the viral video began. “F–k you, you asshole! F–k you!”
Warning: Graphic language
Mattress Mack is the nickname of the 71-year-old Jim McIngvale. He is known for running massive promotions at his furniture stores that gives customers their purchases for free, and then some, if local teams win championships. He then hedges those promotions with big bets on said teams.
Thus, while Mack would prefer the Astros win the World Series, and he wins his bets, he makes off well financially even if the Phillies emerge victorious.
“Oh, it’s definitely a win-win,” McIngvale told ESPN last week. “These promotions just bring the brand to life and give us a ton of brand equity that we wouldn’t have otherwise.”

Nevertheless, one of Mattress Mack’s counterparties, BetFred USA, is a big Phillies fan in the Fall Classic.
“We know there’s no chance that we even things out or even come close to leveling things out,” BetFred USA COO Bennett told ESPN. “We’re all Phillies fans for the next 10 days.”
However, the fate of their book does not depend on it.
“We’d prefer not to lose that bet, but there won’t be any ramifications,” he said.
With tensions running high between himself and Phillies fans, Mack had a message for them Wednesday before Game 4.
“Don’t get drunk at baseball games and make an ass out of yourself,” Mack told Fox 26 in Houston.
