Oasis were ‘gigantic bullies’ at height of fame, Robbie Williams says

He continues to look back in anger.

“Angels” singer Robbie Williams called Oasis “gigantic bullies” at the height of fame, as the British pop star reflected on his long-running feud with the “Wonderwall” hitmakers in a new interview.

“Ultimately, I’m a huge fan of Oasis and [always] was. I was there, and I was part of it, and it was
f – – – ing unbelievable: Incredible hedonism, reckless abandon and rock ’n roll, and, ‘Let’s turn it to 11, 12, and let’s see where this goes.’ It’s part of that competitive nature of me, too,” Williams told Zane Lowe on his Apple Music show, NME reported.

“And also they were gigantic bullies too, to the whole industry, everybody in it — and I didn’t like that. A lot of that still remains inside me. They’re probably different people now, but there’s a lot of me that’s like, ‘They’re f – – – ing bullies, them. I don’t like bullies.’ “

Williams and the band partied together in 1995 at the Glastonbury Festival, but the relationship devolved in the late ’90s. Williams was engaged to singer Nicole Appleton, who later married and divorced Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher.

Liam’s brother, Noel, dismissed Williams as the “fat dancer from Take That.” And Williams famously challenged Liam to a fight at the 2000 Brit Awards.

In the Lowe interview, Williams admitted Liam is a “vital” presence in the music industry.

“He’s doing fine, and he’s rocking it,” Williams said. “The great thing about being a fan of Oasis is when Liam comes out with a great album, I can be a fan. The great thing about being resentful toward them is when they don’t, I’m happy. I win on both sides.

“It’s so genuine, Liam’s last album that he put out: there’s like five or six tracks on there that are just like … I’m so glad he exists. I’m so glad that he is a personality out there that’s vital, because there’s not many of them about. And especially in this day and age where pop stars can’t say and do and be personalities, it’s fantastic that there’s a Liam Gallagher in the world.”

The feud cooled in 2020 when Liam reached out on social media after Williams revealed his father, Pete Conway, had been diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease.

Liam tweeted: “Oi Robbie balboa it’s LG I hear you got sh-t going down in your fam I’m sorry to hear that love n light going out to your [family] stay cool and in tune LG x.”

Williams replied: “Brother that means a lot to me … Carry on being celestial. the world needs you. Your fan rob [heart emoji].”
