Frontier Airlines flight makes emergency landing after blade-wielding man threatens passengers

A plane was forced to make an emergency landing after a deranged passenger with a box cutter threatened the packed flight.

Frontier Airlines Flight 1761 traveling from Cincinnati to Tampa was rerouted to Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport on Friday after a person “threatened to stab passengers and crew members,” an airport official told Atlanta News First.

“The aircraft landed safely in Atlanta and the passenger in question was taken into custody by Atlanta law enforcement,” Jennifer De La Cruz, a spokesperson for Frontier Airlines, told The Post.

No one on board was hurt, she added.

Larry Cumberbatch, one of the Flight 1761 passengers and a Navy veteran, told ABC News that he and two others, a law enforcement officer and another veteran, helped restrain the blade-wielding psycho.

“You could see the energy ramping up where uncertainty, the uncertainty of what’s going to happen with this young man,” Cumberbatch said of the scene, noting several people thought the man was acting strange.

After the armed man made a sudden move, the former law enforcement individual tackled him before he was arrested by cops.

All passengers were taken off the plane and the airline put them up in a hotel overnight. A new flight was scheduled for Saturday morning to take them to Tampa.

“Atlanta Police assisted our federal partners in this incident and detained the suspect,” an Atlanta Police Department spokesperson said in a statement provided to The Post, adding that the FBI will lead the investigation into the incident.

A spokesperson for Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport referred inquiries to the police and Frontier.
