Mike Pompeo calls teacher union boss Randi Weingarten ‘most dangerous person’

Former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has slammed Randi Weingarten, the head of the American Federation of Teachers, as the world’s “most dangerous person” — claiming the union has the potential to tear down the United States.

Pompeo, 58, gave the teacher’s union head the dangerous moniker in an interview with Semafor published Monday — elevating her above some of the world’s most notorious leaders, including China’s Xi Jinping and North Korea’s Kim Jong-un.

“I tell the story often — I get asked ‘Who’s the most dangerous person in the world? Is it Chairman Kim, is it Xi Jinping?'” Pompeo said.

“The most dangerous person in the world is Randi Weingarten. It’s not a close call.

“If you ask, ‘Who’s the most likely to take this republic down?’ It would be the teachers unions, and the filth that they’re teaching our kids, and the fact that they don’t know math and reading or writing.”

Weingarten hit back at the characterization, telling MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” on Wednesday that Pompeo was only “hurting kids” with his attacks.

“What he’s doing is making it harder for teachers all across America to teach kids. To bring parents and teachers together,” she insisted.

“That’s what is pathetic about what he’s doing. He knows better, but he’s doing this to try to win a Republican primary, and he’s hurting kids, and the effort of teachers to bring the country back together.”

The former top US diplomat hasn’t yet revealed if he plans to become a Republican contender for the White House — a move that would force him to go up against his ex-boss, former president Donald Trump, 76.

Pompeo, who was also CIA director during the Trump administration, made the remarks about Weingarten after being asked what GOP candidates should be running on come 2024.

“The central ideas of America are timeless — limited government, expanded set of freedoms, protecting the capacity of people to practice their faith … making sure we don’t teach our kids crap in schools, which we are at the center of doing,” he said.

Pompeo added: “These are the things that candidates should speak to in a way that says, ‘Here’s the problem. Here’s a proposal for how to solve it. And if given the opportunity, these are the things I will go work on to try and deliver that outcome that fixes that problem.’ Pretty straightforward stuff.”

Elsewhere in the interview, Pompeo doubled down — arguing that critical race theory and the New York Times’ 1619 Project being taught in schools would contribute to America’s decline.

“If our kids don’t grow up understanding America is an exceptional nation, we’re done,” he said.

“If they think it’s an oppressor class and an oppressed class, if they think the 1619 Project, and we were founded on a racist idea — if those are the things people entered the seventh grade deeply embedded in their understanding of America, it’s difficult to understand how Xi Jinping’s claim that America is in decline won’t prove true.”
