‘Bomb’ scare at federal building in Lower Manhattan turns out to be empty package
The US Attorney’s Office in Manhattan had a bomb scare Monday when a suspicious package was left outside its building, cops said.
The package turned out to be empty, a police spokeswoman said.
The alarming call about the package came in from the United States Attorney’s Office at 1 St. Andrews Place around 3 p.m. and led to the NYPD Bomb Squad’s response.
A man, whose identity wasn’t immediately released, was taken into custody with charges pending, police sources said. He had three active bench warrants against him, the sources said.
He has 25 prior arrests, including two this year. One of the arrests was for making a false bomb report March 10, the sources said.
