Rundown on Monday’s four World Cup matches

Here’s a look at Monday’s World Cup matches:

Group G: Cameroon vs. Serbia 5 a.m., FS1

This is almost certainly a win-or-out clash for both teams after they dropped their respective openers in Group G. Cameroon’s loss to the Swiss marked its eighth in a row in World Cup play since 2002, with another defeat likely ending any chance to advance beyond the group stage for the first time since a magical quarterfinal run in 1990. Serbia is coming off a 2-0 loss to top-ranked Brazil.

Group H: South Korea vs. Ghana 8 a.m., FS1

Ghana was level with Portugal for nearly 80 minutes before suffering a 3-2 defeat and will be eliminated with another loss to South Korea, which earned a scoreless draw with Uruguay in which the Koreans twice clanked the posts. A win over Ghana would move South Korea closer to its first knockout stage berth since 2010.

Group G: Brazil vs. Switzerland 11 a.m., Fox

Favored Brazil’s 2-0 victory over Serbia proved costly, as world-class forward Neymar will miss Monday’s match and likely its Group G finale against Cameroon on Friday with an ankle issue. Switzerland, ranked 15th in the FIFA rankings (one notch above the U.S.) got its winning goal in the opener from Breel Embolo, who was born in Cameroon.

Group H: Portugal vs. Uruguay 2 p.m., Fox

A second straight Group H victory would vault Cristiano Ronaldo and Portugal into the knockout round for the fourth time in the past five World Cups since 2006. Uruguay also has an impressive streak of three straight advancements on the line, including a semifinalist finish in 2010 and a quarterfinal result in 2018.
