Get this guy a nail clipper.
Bucks forward Bobby Portis literally clawed into the back of Grizzlies forward Santi Aldama on Thursday, leaving him with long bloody scratches down his right side.
With two minutes remaining in the third and the Grizzlies up by 41 points, a clearly frustrated Portis was defending Aldama and pulled on the back his jersey right in front of the referee. Portis was assessed a technical foul as Aldama received medical attention on the sidelines at FedExForum.
When Bally Sports cameras showed a closeup of Aldama’s back covered in red parallel scratches, the broadcasters were appalled by the scene.
“That is unbelievable,” one said, while the other added, “I don’t even know what to say… Look at the scratches. That’s ridiculous, is what it is.”
The Grizzlies continued obliterating the Bucks, 142-101, behind a triple-double by Ja Morant, who finished with 25 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists. It marked the seventh straight win for Memphis.
Portis and star center Giannis Antetokounmpo led the Bucks with 19 points apiece, but it wasn’t nearly enough to stop the sharp-shooting Grizzlies. Memphis opened a 50-point lead in the fourth quarter for the NBA’s largest advantage this season, according to ESPN.
The Bucks (20-8) host the Jazz on Sunday, while the Western Conference-leading Grizzlies visit the Thunder on Saturday.
