I caught the babysitter sleeping on the job and came home to hell
Don’t tell mom the babysitter’s dead asleep.
A mama says she was left mortified after she returned home to find her baby had trashed her home as his babysitter snoozed on the sofa.
Dell Auger, 31, left 1-year-old son Declan at her Alberta, Canada, home last month with her older sister, Megan, 33, serving as the sitter.
Dell left for her job at 8 a.m., but had a “gut feeling” something was amiss when she stopped hearing from her sister several hours later.
The perturbed parent returned to the residence just after 1 p.m. to find her tot had “wreaked havoc” on the home after her sister drifted off to sleep — and she was furious.
“Declan literally had every single toy out, plus some of my bowls from the kitchen,” Dell told Kennedy News. “They’re in a drawer, so he was obviously chilling by himself for a while.”
Dell shared footage that shows the unrepentant tot deviously looking at the camera and giggling as he surveys the mess.
The tiny troublemaker even managed to open some of the kitchen cupboards and liberate a few of his mama’s mixing bowls during his mess-making spree.
“He just thought it was the funniest thing, he was just laughing,” Dell recalled. “He knows when he’s doing something bad or wrong, and he’ll run away and just laugh. He’s mischievous, he’s a little clown.”
Meanwhile, sheepish sister Megan insisted she was only asleep for a few minutes and thought baby Dell was napping alongside her.
“I didn’t mean to fall asleep when I was babysitting my nephew,” she told Kennedy News.
But Dell doesn’t believe her sister, who has now been booted from further babysitting gigs.
“She lost all babysitting privileges,” the mom said of her sister. “Maybe after a whole year I’ll trust her again with my baby, but for now he’s going to daycare.”
The mama was also annoyed that Megan didn’t help her clean up the mess, saying: “It took a couple hours to clean it up. I was mad because I thought my sister should have cleaned it and not me. She just lay there and continued sleeping.”
Thankfully, baby Declan didn’t get into any dangerous situations and Dell is now managing to see the humorous side of it all.
“I can laugh about it now but I wasn’t laughing in the moment.” she stated. “I was annoyed, but now it’s a funny story.”
