Stephen ‘tWitch’ Boss had numerous 2023 projects lined up: ‘He was so excited’
Stephen “tWitch” Boss was preparing for a busy 2023 before his tragic death this week, with “multiple shows, brand deals, and projects in pre-production for the upcoming year.”
The “Ellen DeGeneres Show” DJ, 40, was found dead inside a Los Angeles motel room on Tuesday, with an autopsy confirming that he died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.
On Friday, a source told People that the beloved entertainer’s career was booming and that he was looking forward to the work he had secured.
“He was so excited about all of the projects he had coming up and was very involved day to day,” the insider told the publication.
Along with his wife, Allison Holker, 34, Boss had hosted “Disney’s Fairy Tale Weddings” on Disney+ since 2018.
The couple also had their own line of athleisurewear, DSG x tWitch + Allison Collection, sold at Dick’s Sporting Goods.
Additionally, Boss was a judge on “So You Think You Can Dance” — the reality show on which he first appeared as a contestant back in 2008.
The source’s comments about Boss appearing excited about the future jibe with remarks made by the star’s beloved grandfather who was left shocked by the death.
“We spoke as recently as Saturday on more than one occasion,” Eddy Boss, 84, told the Daily Mail, adding that there were no signs of stress leading up to his death.
“He was the same happy-go-lucky person that he’s always been. We had no indication that anything was out of the ordinary,” the grandfather declared.
“His last words to me were a simple text that says, ‘I love you Dad-Dad.’ Our question is why? Where did it come from?” he asked.
Meanwhile, on Friday, sources told TMZ that Boss left a suicide note that vaguely alluded to old challenges he had faced.
He reportedly left the note in the motel room where he took his own life — located less than a mile from the home he shared with Holker.
The couple recently celebrated their ninth wedding anniversary and shared three children: Zaia, 3, Maddox, 6, and 14-year-old Weslie, Holker’s daughter from a previous relationship whom Boss adopted.
“Stephen lit up every room he stepped into,” Holker said in a heartbreaking statement on Tuesday confirming her husband’s death.
“He valued family, friends and community above all else and leading with love and light was everything to him. He was the backbone of our family, the best husband and father, and an inspiration to his fans.”
Meanwhile, Ellen DeGeneres also paid emotional tribute to her former co-star.
Boss joined the talk show host’s eponymous daytime series in 2014 before he was elevated to executive producer in 2020. He stayed with DeGeneres until the finale of her show earlier this year.
“I’m heartbroken,” DeGeneres, 64, declared in a statement. “tWitch was pure love and light. He was my family, and I loved him with all my heart. I will miss him. Please send your love and support to Allison and his beautiful children — Weslie, Maddox, and Zaia.”
