Adoree’ Jackson wants to play Sunday against the Eagles, a game that holds no meaning to the Giants, as far as playoff implications, but could mean something important to Jackson.
“I feel like it would help,’’ Jackson said Wednesday.
Jackson, the top cornerback on the roster, has not played since Week 11, when he sprained his knee returning a punt in a loss to the Lions. Jackson missed the last six games of the season. He returned to practice last week but was not activated for the playoff-clinching, 38-10 victory over the Colts.
Coach Brian Daboll might rest some or several of his starters in the regular-season finale. Jackson might benefit from the extra time off before the playoffs, but he acknowledges he has not played in quite a long time.
“The main important thing is going through this week and getting myself prepared and doing all the things I need, not for myself, for the coaches and the training staff to make a decision about me and about this game,’’ Jackson said.
Jackson has been here before. In 2019, he missed the last four games of the season with a foot injury but returned and played in all three playoff games for the Titans, who eventually lost to the Chiefs in the AFC Championship game.
DL Leonard Williams (neck), OLB Azeez Ojulari (ankle) and C Jon Feliciano (back) were held out of practice. Ojulari was forced out of the loss to the Vikings after he rolled his ankle on a sack of Kirk Cousins. Ojulari played just seven snaps Sunday.
“Hopefully we can get him as healthy as we can here the next couple of weeks,’’ Daboll said, certainly a hint that Ojulari will be held out of the regular-season finale in Philadelphia. … Eagles QB Jalen Hurts (right shoulder) was a limited participant in practice after missing the past two games.
Fourth-year safety Julian Love is the winner of the 22nd annual George Young-Ernie Accorsi Media Good Guy Award, given annually by the Giants chapter of the Professional Football Writers of America to recognize a Giants player for his consistent and outstanding cooperation with the writers who cover the team on a daily basis. Love received 11 of 18 first-place votes. WR Darius Slayton finished second, and RB Saquon Barkley and OL Nick Gates finished in a tie for third place.
