Here are some nuggets from Yankees’ spring training on Sunday:
Power couple
Aaron Judge and Anthony Rizzo looked ready for the regular season, crushing back-to-back home runs in the fifth inning.
Judge went to the opposite field for his second homer of the spring while Rizzo’s was his first.
Krook cooked
Before he was optioned to Triple-A postgame, Matt Krook had a rough ninth inning on the mound.
He walked the first two batters he faced on eight pitches and then dropped the ball for a balk, though he eventually got out of the jam with just one run allowed.
Caught my eye
Aaron Hicks had a solid day at the plate, hitting a single and also drawing a pair of walks.
In 38 at-bats this spring, Hicks has posted a slash line of .263/.378/.368.
Monday’s schedule
The Yankees have their last game of the spring in Florida, with Clarke Schmidt set to take the mound for a 1:05 p.m. start against the Rays at Steinbrenner Field.
