Controversial mayor caught dancing nearly naked at nightclub, faces probe
The mayor has no clothes.
A Colombian politician redefined “naked leadership” after he was spotted dancing while nearly nude at a nightclub, as seen in a wild video blowing up online.
The R-rated “political party” went down while Martín Alfonso Mejía, of the municipality of Calima, was at an unspecified nightclub, Jam Press reported.
Things took an NSFW turn after the frisky leader whipped off his shirt and began gyrating in front of stunned revelers.
In the raunchy footage, the topless Mejía can be seen standing on a bench while gyrating his hips vigorously in full view of a group of young women.
At one point during his striptease, the pol’s trousers slip down, exposing his bare bum like a wayward toddler.
The clip concludes with a man approaching Mejía and placing an arm around his shoulder, presumably trying to put the kibosh on the embarrassing spectacle.
Fellow politicians were not too pleased with the mayor exposing his “legislative body,” especially given that his display occurred during Holy Week in the Catholic country.
“The responsibility that politicians have obliged us to show exemplary behavior in public,” declared Duvalier Sanchez Arango, a member of Colombia’s House of Representatives.
“Concerning the inappropriate acts of Mayor Martín Mejía of Calima in Valle, we are calling for a disciplinary investigation by the Attorney General’s Office and the Green Party.”
It’s unclear if the mayor will face the music over his alleged dirty dancing. Mejía has since claimed he was drugged at the club — an allegation that the venue’s boss denied.
The ridiculous display comes just six months after Mejía took to the stage at a festival while allegedly intoxicated and told the crowd that he was corrupt.
Indeed, the politician definitely seems like someone you could have a beer, or 10, with.
This isn’t the first time a politician has been filmed engaging in controversial extracurricular activities.
In August, Finnish Prime Minister Sanna Marin faced fierce backlash after she was filmed partying wildly with friends — with one clip showing the 36-year-old married leader dancing intimately with a mystery man.
Critics subsequently accused Marin of being on drugs, which she vehemently denied.
The young leader also hit back at detractors, touting her job performance and defending her right to have a private life.
“I do my job. I learn from this,” Marin told a crowd of supporters in the southern town of Lahti. “This week has not been easy. It has been difficult. But I want to believe that people look at the work we do, not what we do in our free time.”
