Brits ‘rejoicing’ Meghan Markle won’t attend King Charles’ coronation

Brits are said to be “rejoicing” over Meghan Markle declining an invitation to King Charles III’s upcoming coronation.

A palace spokesperson confirmed that while Prince Harry will attend the May 6 event, Markle will stay behind in their expansive mansion in California.

The ceremony falls on the birthday of the couple’s son, Archie, who is turning 4. It’s rumored that the conflicting schedule is the duchess’ reasoning for not traveling to London.

Speaking Friday on Sky News, writer Sophie Elsworth took a jab at Markle, arguing she is “obsessed with being in the media” and “dominating headlines.”

“I can’t believe that woman is not going because she’s obsessed with herself,” Elsworth said, claiming Brits are “rejoicing” that the former “Suits” actress will be “staying well away” from the festivities.

Elsworth said it’s a “good decision” that Markle, 41, is not attending, considering how Londoners “despised” the pair at the Queen’s Jubilee last year.

The coronation comes months after the publication of the Duke of Sussex’s bombshell memoir “Spare” and the premiere of the couple’s unflattering Netflix docuseries.

Markle and Harry, 38, reportedly inked a $100 million deal with the streaming giant for their six-episode show, while “Spare” became the fastest selling nonfiction book of all time.

“This guy’s done immense damage to the royal family and makes a fortune out of doing it,” Elsworth said of Harry.

“So shame on him, but hopefully he behaves himself at the coronation.”

The Daily Mail quoted unidentified sources claiming the royal family has “no interest” in conversing with Prince Harry at the coronation in the wake of the couple’s departure from royal life and move to the US in 2020.

Elsworth’s remarks echo insider reports from the palace — namely, that Kate Middleton is “relieved” by her sister-in-law’s expected absence.

An unidentified source reported Middleton, 41, would have been “uncomfortable” by the duchess’ presence.

Tom Bower, a royal biographer, claimed Middleton “wouldn’t have her there under any circumstances,” effectively barring Markle from accepting the invite.

Her choice to stay in the Golden State was slammed by royal watchers who crowned her a “martyr” — with Meghan McCain knocking Markle for “chickening out.”

For the king’s part, it’s been reported he’s “disappointed” Markle won’t be at the celebration.

“It is sad, he is very disappointed that he won’t see Meghan or his grandchildren but understands the situation,” a source previously claimed.

The invitation limbo came to an end this week when a Buckingham palace spokesperson confirmed Harry and Meghan’s plans.

“Buckingham Palace is pleased to confirm that the Duke of Sussex will attend the coronation service at Westminster Abbey on May 6,” a spokesperson said.

“The Duchess of Sussex will remain in California with Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.”

Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York and ex-wife of Prince Andrew, was royally snubbed.

She seemed in good spirits speaking with Hello! Magazine this week, claiming she never “expected” an invite and instead will be “having a little tea room and coronation chicken sandwich.”

Elsworth thought it to be a “bit rough” the 63-year-old author won’t be present for the coronation.

“People love Fergie. I think she’s a bit of a character of the royal family,” she said, arguing Ferguson, who goes by Fergie, “made headlines for all the wrong reasons.”

“I think people would much rather her get an invite than Meghan Markle, but you know that’s up to them of who they decide and clearly she’s not on the list,” she added.
