Girl severely burned by scalding plate dropped by waitress: lawsuit

A child was badly burned at a French bistro in the Financial District after a server dropped a scalding plate on her, the girl’s family alleged in a lawsuit.

Dana Koffi-Barbe, of the Lower East Side, sued the Coco Bistro, claiming a waitress severely injured her infant daughter on Sept. 21, 2021, by fumbling an “extremely” hot plate, causing permanent injuries.

The girl, identified only as “L K B” in court filings, was left bedridden for “substantial periods of time” after the incident, her mother said in the Manhattan Supreme Court suit.

The family is demanding unspecified damages from the bistro and its parent company, Yarrow Two LLC, which has denied responsibility for the girl’s injuries in court papers filed Wednesday.

Koffi-Barbe, 42, could not be reached for comment.

Neither Coco Bistro or its parent company responded to requests for comment.
