Angel Reese wasn’t happy Shaq called her LSU’s greatest athlete: He didn’t ‘give a f–k’
Angel Reese wants to build on this year’s success before wearing the “G.O.A.T.” crown recently bestowed upon her by Shaquille O’Neal.
During a recent appearance on “The Breakfast Club,” LSU’s superstar forward was asked about previous comments made by O’Neal, who said Reese is “probably the greatest athlete” LSU has produced.
“I called him after that and I was like, ‘You know how much pressure you just put on me? You know how much?'” Reese recalled.
O’Neal, a fellow LSU athlete, then told Reese, “I don’t give a f–k.”
Earlier this month, the 51-year-old O’Neal spoke about Reese’s athletic prowess on “The Big Podcast.”
“She’s probably the greatest athlete ever to come out of LSU sports. … Male and female,” O’Neal said.
“Because guess what? She delivered. She delivered that package … [LSU alum and Bengals quarterback] Joe Burrow got it done a couple of years ago, but she’s way more athletic than he is.”
Reese became one of the biggest breakout stars during this year’s NCAA tournament, when the Tigers earned their first national championship after defeating the Iowa Hawkeyes, 102-85.
The 20-year-old sophomore, who famously taunted Iowa standout Caitlin Clark in the title game, averaged 23 points and 15.4 rebounds per game this season.
Reese also set an NCAA record with 34 double-doubles this year.
She said on “The Breakfast Club” there’s still plenty more to accomplish.
“I feel like I haven’t done nothing yet, so I told [O’Neal] don’t even say that yet,” she said. “I won a championship, I just don’t feel like I’ve done enough.”
Reese then expressed what could further contribute to her growing legacy.
“I feel like another championship and maybe Player of the Year would hold some more weight,” she said.
