Anna Wintour, Bill Nighy confirm romance on Met Gala red carpet
Anna Wintour confirmed her romance with Bill Nighy at the Met Gala on Monday night.
The Vogue titan, 73, arrived at the fashion gala arm-in-arm with the “Love Actually” actor, also 73, following months of dating speculation.
The new couple, who are both Brits, first set tongues wagging last December when they were spotted together at a New York screening of Nighy’s Oscar-nominated film, “Living.”
Friends of Wintour told the Post on Monday that they are “thrilled” the fashion icon is “finally” making her red carpet debut with Nighy.
Wintour’s decision to debut her romance with Nighy at the Met Gala holds special meaning for the magazine maven, who has chaired or co-chaired the famed fashion event since 1995.
At one point on the red carpert, a famously guarded Wintour threw caution to the wind and was seen giddily whispering in the Nighy’s ear as she clutched at his hand.
The Conde Nast powerhouse was married to psychiatrist David Shaffer, with whom she has two children, from 1984 until 1999.
She subsequently embarked on a decades-long romance with investor Shelby Bryan, until they split in 2020.
Nighy, meanwhile, dated English actress Diana Quick from 1982 until 2008. He has since remained tight-lipped about his personal life.
This year’s Met Gala theme, “Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty,” honors the late German fashion designer who was the creative director of Chanel until his death in 2019.
Supermodels including Kate Moss, Gisele and Naomi Campbell all paid tribute to the designer by attending the annual event, held at New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art.
Oscar-winning actress Jessica Chastain was also present at the event, where she gave a sartorial nod to Largerfeld by donning a pair of his trademark sunglasses.
Meanwhile, a slew of other superstars, including Margot Robbie, Rami Malek and Sydney Sweeney also turned out for the event.
