Burger King debuts red Whopper for new ‘Spider-Man’ movie

It’s a bite fit for the “Spider-Verse.”

A taste of “Spider-Man” is swinging into Burger King with the launch of its red bun Whoppers topped in black sesame seeds. The Marvel movie-themed meal will be available May 15 through June 21.

The splashy spread is inspired by the next installment of the superhero series, “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse,” out June 2.

The “Spider-Verse” Whopper is flame grilled, and topped with melted Swiss cheese as well as traditional fixings: tomatoes, lettuce, mayonnaise, ketchup, pickles and onions. Fans can also customize the colossal meal with crispy bacon.

If that’s not enough to send Spidey senses – and taste buds – tingling, there’s a “Spider-Verse” sundae, which is ice cream topped with black and red chocolate candies.

“Like the infinite number of universes that can be explored in the next installment of the award-winning Spider-Man franchise, Burger King fans can discover new and exciting ways to customize the ‘Spider-Verse’ menu items,” Pat O’Toole, chief marketing officer for Burger King North America, said in a statement.

“This co-promotion allows us to bring the best of both worlds together, creating countless possibilities for guests to have it their way and rule their Spider-Verse.”

The chain is also rolling out an immersive eating experience in select restaurants in New York City, France, the United Arab Emirates and Brazil. Dining rooms will be turned into an interactive “Spider-Verse.”
