Dalvin Cook getting released by Vikings in end to offseason saga
Dalvin Cook’s time with the Vikings is finally over.
After exploring trade options, the Vikings will release the four-time Pro Bowl running back, according to multiple reports.
Cook, 27, was set to count more than $14 million against the Vikings’ salary cap in 2023.
The Dolphins have been linked to Cook in recent weeks, and according to ESPN, the Broncos are also expected to explore signing him.
A second-round pick in the 2017 draft, Cook has made the Pro Bowl in each of the past four seasons, rushing for more than 1,135 yards each year.
Cook rushed for 1,173 yards and eight touchdowns while catching 39 passes for 295 yards and two touchdowns last season.
The Vikings re-signed backup running back Alexander Mattison to a two-year, $7 million contract in March.
The 24-year-old has filled in well in recent years when Cook was injured.
