Following a last-place finish in a fantasy football league, one fan was forced to commit the ultimate sin: Attend a Yankees game dressed in a full José Altuve uniform.
As documented on the TikTok account, @bookitwith.tyrone, the individual in question can be seen walking outside Yankee Stadium in Altuve’s No. 27 Houston Astros jersey, complete with a hat and cleats, as punishment.
Unsurprisingly, Yankees fans were not having it and could be seen berating the fan in the Astros uniform in the stands.
Warning: Explicit language
In fact, some spectators were even chanting, “F–k the Astros,” right in the fan’s face.
Astros fans, however, had a field day roasting the Yankees supporters in the comments.
“Astros are the official owners of the Yankees,” one fan wrote.
Another remarked, “Altuve lives in yall Yankees fans head all season long.”
“Yankees just mad they [Astros] own them,” one viewer posted.
Although New York was hosting the Chicago White Sox at the time of the ordeal, the sting of the Astros remains.
Houston was infamously embroiled in a sign-stealing scandal a few short years ago.
In the wake of the MLB’s investigation into the matter in 2020, many Yankees fans believed the Astros robbed New York of a championship in 2017 when Houston won the ALCS in seven games.
Further, Altuve’s home run in Game 6 of the 2019 ALCS seemingly still haunts the Bronx faithful as it once again dashed the Yankees’ World Series dreams.
The Astros and Yankees clashed in the ALCS last year, with Houston sweeping their rival in four games before defeating the Phillies in the World Series.
The Yankees will host the Astros in a four-game series in early August, surely with no shortage of entertainment from the crowds.
