Conor McGregor’s appearance at the NBA Finals didn’t go well for him or the Heat’s mascot.
The former two-division UFC champion was at Game 4 between the Heat and Nuggets at Kaseya Center on Friday night to announce in an on-court interview during a time out that his TIDL Sport body spray is now an official sponsor of the Miami franchise.
But once McGregor, dressed in a red velvet tracksuit, got on the mic – with Miami trailing by 10 — he was booed off the court by the Heat faithful despite him saying it was his first time courtside at an NBA game.
Things didn’t end there.
McGregor, 34, was then approached by the Heat’s mascot Burnie – who was wearing gold boxing gloves and clearly looking for a fight.
After a moment of sizing each other up, McGregor unleashed a vicious left hook to the head, taking Bernie’s hat off and knocking him to the ground.
It elicited a gasp from the crowd and more booes.
The Irish star then threw a jab to the mascot’s face as a finishing blow for good measure and then proceeded to spray Bernie with TIDL as was pulled off the court by his legs.
The Heat, who are just the second No. 8 seed to reach the Finals, ended up losing the game 108-95 and now trail the Nuggets 3-1 heading back to Denver for a potential title-clinching Game 5 on Monday night.
McGregor, who hasn’t fought since breaking his legs in a loss to Dustin Poirier in July 2021, is set to face Michael Chandler for his return bout later this year.
The two are coaches on the new season of “The Ultimate Fighter.”
Bernie may want to tune in for some pointers for the next time he and McGregor cross paths.
