Uh-oh: The Soros family billions will soon be serving an even more radical agenda as George, 92, surrenders control of his foundation to his son Alex, 37.
The new czar of the $25 billion empire calls himself even “more political” and more focused on domestic politics than his dad.
He’s also generally seen as more radical.
Just what America needs — a younger, more extreme Soros, with more energy and more interest in the nation’s internal politics.
And decades ahead of him to wreak havoc.
Much of George’s international spending was a plus: He supported the Polish union Solidarity and other dissidents across the old Soviet empire, and after the USSR’s collapse bankrolled efforts to ensure the newly-freed nations embraced liberty.
But his spending on domestic US politics and policies has treated American institutions as if they were as authoritarian as the old Communist ones.
His foundation has spent countless millions funding campaigns to keep criminals out on the streets, free to commit new crimes.
Soros’ money promotes the false, divisive narrative that racial bias infects America’s justice system.
And he discovered and exploited a weakness of American democracy: The ease with which one billionaire’s giving could deeply politicize the election of local prosecutors.
Countless lives have been lost to murderers left free by extremist prosecutors who won election with the help of generous Soros funding.
Elon Musk even compared him to the Marvel supervillain Magneto, claiming Soros “hates humanity” and aims to “erode the very fabric of civilization.”
Now the son boasts that he and his dad “think alike” and that he hopes to broaden George Soros’ left-wing agenda, focusing more attention on voting and abortion rights and gender-equality issues.
Brace for an escalation of the culture wars, as Alex funds hard-left approaches to election laws (a la the turnout-boosting Georgia statute that President Joe Biden smeared as “Jim Crow 2.0”) to “trans rights” to toxic assumptions on race and so on..
Americans can only hope that Alex proves markedly less sharp than his dad (who, after all, made all that money) and burns much of the cash on con-men consultants and utterly lost causes.
Of course, a $25 billion fund can do a lot of damage even when spent foolishly.
Too bad the Soroses show zero interest in another left-wing obsession — getting Big Money out of US politics.
