In the fight against woke academia, to quote the late, great Margaret Thatcher: “This is no time to go wobbly” — as lefty insanity is alive and well at colleges across the country.
Witness former Penn State professor Zack De Piero’s report that his colleague Liliana Naydan endorsed the view that white supremacy is somehow encoded into English, thus making the language itself racist.
Even more insanely, she works in an English department.
And Penn State is a public university.
So the prof holding these bonkers beliefs is getting paid on the taxpayers’ dime.
Meanwhile, in Texas, 20-year-veteran biology professor Johnson Varkey reportedly got the ax from St. Philip’s College for stating an incontestable scientific truth, that human sex is determined by X and Y chromosomes.
This fact upset some snowflakes in his class so much that a cadre stormed out, and Varkey — who has an exemplary record — was subsequently let go for “religious preaching.”
What’s next: Gravity is misogynist? The Second Law of Thermodynamics is anti-black?
And it’s not just these two crimes against reason.
Consider the vicious commencement speech from CUNY Law grad Fatima Mousa Mohammed, rife with anti-Israel conspiracy theories.
Turns out that screed was apparently pre-approved by the wokies running the place (no shock there) and CUNY’s board members have been sluggish and/or silent in response.
Or Emory University, now pouring millions into upgrading its “Belonging and Community Justice identity spaces.”
Bad enough such spaces (usually woke code for racial segregation) exist at all in 2023. Worse still they’re getting a touch-up.
The also-public University of Oregon touts a sex toy shop as a part of its “LGBT Education and Support Services” (we only wish this was the setup for a joke).
If we listed every such absurdity, we’d be here ’til Christmas.
But the humor drains away real quick when you remember that these are the people tasked with educating the next generation of American citizens.
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis is fighting the good fight against this nonsense, cutting public funding for DEI initiatives and other woke BS at universities.
The more — and more quickly — other state executives can deliver similar results, the better off the country will be.
