Chris Christie offers to make peace with ‘Jersey Shore’ star Snookie
Gym, tan, summit.
Former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie said he would be willing to meet Snooki and settle their differences since their infamous encounter in 2013.
“I am willing to break bread with anybody, but I don’t think she’s interested in breaking bread with me because I didn’t like her show,” Christie said of the “Jersey Shore” reality-TV franchise.
The pair were taping different segments of a “Today Show” episode on the Seaside Heights boardwalk when they ran into each other and had a tense exchange that was caught on video.
“I introduced myself and said, ‘I hope you can start to like us,’” Snookie — aka Nicole Polizzi — wrote in her 2015 memoir. Christie “leaned in close and told me why he doesn’t. His expression was full of hate.”
He had previously attacked the show saying it cast New Jersey in a “negative” light — and went so far as to block it from receiving a state tax credit.
Christie said he had not spoken to Snookie, an upstate New Yorker who now lives in New Jersey permanently, since.
The 2024 GOP presidential contender flexed his Jersey bonafides in an interview with The Post this week, declaring his state had better pizza, better sports, and was “tougher” than New York.
As a “North Jersey Guy” — Christie said he uses “Taylor Ham” instead of “pork roll,” which is the preferred term in the central and southern parts of the Garden State.
When asked whether the infamous haunted Watcher House in Westfield was “fact or fiction” Christie responded emphatically — “fact.”
Christie said he favorite shore destination was Bayhead and favorite boardwalk stand was Lucky Leo’s Arcade in Seaside Heights.
When presented with a photo of his infamous 2017 trip to the beach during a statewide government shutdown, Christie conceded it was a “mistake.”
“If I had to do over again, I wouldn’t have done it,” he said.
Christie — a longtime Bruce Springsteen diehard — said he had been to no fewer than 148 of the The Boss’ concerts in his life. But refused to pick a favorite between Springsteen and Bon Jovi.
“I love them both.”
