Woman busted with comically fake New York state inspection sticker

Police didn’t have to inspect this too closely to realize it was fake.

An upstate New York woman was arrested Thursday for driving around with a poorly drawn mock-up of a state inspection sticker, authorities said.

Reghan Parker’s crudely executed scheme was exposed when her car was pulled over for a traffic violation while motoring around Union, a town several miles west of Binghamton, state police said.

Parker, 44, was riding in the passenger seat and her driver, who was not identified by police, did not possess a valid driver’s license, cops said.

That’s when state troopers said they noticed the “homemade piece of paper on the front windshield attempting to represent a New York State Inspection sticker.”

The doodle was drawn on a piece of paper that was colored with yellow crayon in the same fashion as the recognized sticker.

Parker allegedly scrawled “Saftey Emm Inspetion” on the paper in an attempt to recreate the wording of a valid inspection.

The forged sticker, however, had no year included and did not include a hole punch marking its expiration.

During their investigation, troopers discovered that Parker was also allegedly in possession of suspected methamphetamine.

She was charged with possession of a forged instrument, a felony, as well as possession of methamphetamine and issued an appearance ticket to Broome County Centralized Arraignment and Processing, police said.
