McDonald’s is giving out free fries today for National French Fry Day
You’re going to need to fry your best to resist this deal.
Thursday, July 13, is National French Fry Day, and in honor of the glorious holiday, McDonald’s is giving out free french fries of any size, The Post can confirm.
The crispy, golden treat will be available across the country at participating locations exclusively on the McDonald’s app, with no purchase necessary.
An order of large McDonald’s fries can cost anywhere from around $4.50 to $6, per Mc-Menu.com, which means that you could be saving some cash with this offer.
However, don’t fret if you can’t get to your local McDonald’s on Thursday.
The fast-food chain still offers “Free Fries Friday” on their app — meaning that you can get a medium fry with any $1 minimum purchase.
It won’t be free, but it could offer some solace to those who can’t swing by the drive-thru.
In the past, McDonald’s french fries have been quite the hot topic — and in April, the shocking “secret” around their delicious taste was even revealed.
TikToker Jordan Howlett, 26, alleged that McDonald’s cooks their potato spuds with beef flavoring mixed into their vegetable oil — meaning that it’s not so great for vegetarians.
On its website, the fast-food chain notes that when its “suppliers partially fry our cut potatoes, they use an oil blend that contains beef flavoring.”
There has been some controversy about the flavoring in the past, but after a 2001 lawsuit, they added the beef qualifier to the list of ingredients.
And, earlier this year, another TikToker debunked a rumor that McDonald’s french fry containers actually hold the same amount of crispy goodness, no matter the size.
In the video clip, the user, named Livy, took the paper bag that the restaurant uses to serve a small fry and poured its contents into a medium-sized carton.
When she did that, it only filled the medium container about halfway.
She also tried the same experiment with medium fries, depositing them into a large fry contain, which again only filled it up halfway.
In other McDonald’s news, it looks like they’ll be making a big change to their menus soon — starting this month, the fast-food chain is planning to get rid of their McCafé Bakery pastry items, like the cinnamon roll, blueberry muffin and apple fritter.
“We’re always listening to our fans and adjusting our menu based on what they crave,” McDonald’s USA told The Post in a statement. “Starting this month, we’ll be phasing out our McCafé Bakery line-up, including the Apple Fritter, Blueberry Muffin and Cinnamon Roll.
“We know goodbyes are never easy – but fans can still satisfy their sweet tooth with our iconic Chocolate Chip Cookies, Baked Apple Pie and frozen desserts at restaurants nationwide,” the message continued.
