Anti-woke National Defense Authorization Act makes libs panic about DEI

With the passage of the National Defense Authorization Act, House Speaker Kevin McCarthy has scored another victory, while making lefty nutjobs take ownership of their bizarre policy preferences.

Democrats, including House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY), scream that the bill is “extreme” and “reckless” — thanks to amendments taking aim at some vital targets, namely the left’s meddling in the Pentagon’s wheelhouse.

For example, one provision eliminates Diversity, Equity & Inclusion programs and staff within the Defense Department.

This is absolutely non-negotiable. America’s warfighting capacities have been severely dented by massive failures to meet recruitment goals, largely driven by the Pentagon’s turn to wokism

Indeed, it’s a great mystery why the government agency tasked with keeping America safe and strong should waste a single cent on DEI — it’s hard to think of a job field where merit and ability matter more

(One more time, for the record: DEI sounds innocuous, but in fact always turns out to involve radical, racist nonsense.)

Another provision stops health care coverage under a service member program for hormone treatments and gender-confirmation surgeries.

Whatever your view of trans treatments, there’s zero reason for the federal government to fund them with taxpayer dollars

That goes for the rule blocking payment or reimbursement for expenses around abortions, too.

Why should taxpayers (many of whom morally object to abortion) fund that?

There’s also an amendment to keep books like “Genderqueer” — a pornographic cartoon that progressives want children to read, for some reason — out of military school libraries.

What role does such lit play in national defense?

All the histrionics from progs (note that some Dems broke ranks to back the bill) shows, yet again, that these lawmakers hate it when their true legislative priorities come up for debate.

Look, there was never any reason for the Pentagon to be doing this stuff to begin with.

And if Senate Democrats want to sacrifice our safety to force average Americans into paying for whiteness seminars and bottom surgeries, they’ll now have to trumpet that before the whole country.
