James Harden is back at it again.
Not long after the guard made headlines for removing all mention of the Philadelphia 76ers from his Twitter and Instagram profiles, Harden posted a pair of rather cryptic sentences to his Instagram story.
“Been comfortable for so long. It’s time to get uncomfortable,” the story post read.
With no other context, one might assume Harden is referring to his situation in Philadelphia, where he recently opted into his $35.6 million deal before requesting a trade to the Los Angeles Clippers.
A veteran aiming to join his fifth NBA team in 14 season, the discomfort could allude to starting over in a new city.
Another version of uncomfortability for the former MVP may be leaving the side of Daryl Morey, who has watched over Harden for nearly ten years between the front offices of the Houston Rockets and the 76ers.
“I do have a long relationship with him. I’m attempting to honor that,” Morey told 97.5 The Fanatic on Tuesday. “But the reality is that if we do look at a trade it’s going to be for one of two things. It’s either going to be for a player who continues to help us be right there like we were last year, up 3-2 on one of the best teams in the East, the Celtics.
“If we don’t get either a very good player or something that we can turn into a very good player then we’re just not going to do it.”
While Harden may be ready to “get uncomfortable,” he’ll have to sit through another public trade saga to get there.
