Observations from Jets training camp on Friday.
What a rush
The Jets’ pass rush was in the backfield all day Friday. John Franklin-Myers had what would have been a sack and Jermaine Johnson had a nice pressure, too.
The defense is at an advantage with no pads on, but the Jets look quick on the edge.
Slop and drop
The offense looked sloppy.
There were penalties, drops and lots of footballs on the ground. It usually takes a while for the offense to catch up to the defense in training camp and the Jets’ defense has largely played together while the offense has plenty of new pieces.
It could take a while for the offense to look crisp.
Caught my eye
Whichever unit loses the team’s competition period has to do 25 push-ups.
The offensive players are starting to get big upper bodies, as they have done the push-ups at the end of each of the first two practices.
Rodgers Report
It was another quiet day for the quarterback.
He went 7-for-13 and was the victim of some dropped passes. He did attempt one deep ball that just missed Allen Lazard.
He looked good on a play-action pass to Corey Davis.
Medical Report
Rookie DE Will McDonald did not practice Friday as he deals with a leg contusion.
WR Irv Charles left practice after a collision with teammates in the end zone.
