Ex-Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s sister behind vicious campaign to discredit his accusers as ‘bimbos’: report
Former Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s sister was behind a vicious campaign to discredit the women whose sex harassment allegations derailed her brother’s tenure in Albany, a shocking new report claims.
Madeline Cuomo, 58, repeatedly messaged a group of her brother’s supporters — most of them elderly women — and pushed them to promote “bimbo photos” of the “unsophisticated girls” who leveled harassment claims against her brother, according to the bombshell report Monday by the New York Times.
The revelations come from 4,000 emails, text messages and voice memos reviewed by the Times, with the exchanges coming between the ex-governor’s younger sister and an upstate pro-Cuomo group called We Decide New York.
“Your life will be dissected like a frog in a HS science class,” one group member tweeted to former Cuomo aide and accuser Charlotte Bennett — along with a photo of Bennett allegedly dancing in lingerie.
According to the report, the off-color tweet was sent by We Decide member Anna Vavare — but Madeline Cuomo was firmly behind it as she egged the women on to fight her brother’s battle.
In a follow-up message to the group, the fallen governor’s sister told one We Decide member, “No respectable woman would EVER pose like that.
“Bimbo photos,” she said. “Really despicable… Unsophisticated girls.”
Several members of the group told the Times they now feel burnt by Madeline Cuomo.
“Madeline was demanding,” group member Sandy Behan, 71, told the Times. “She wanted to make sure we toed the line and we did. This was a means for her to get information out to benefit her brother.
“She didn’t want to be my girlfriend,” Behan said. “She was using us.”
Andrew Cuomo’s time in the governor’s mansion was cut short in August 2021 when he resigned in the midst of mounting sexual harassment allegations by several women — prompting his sister to launch her sordid campaign to discredit his accusers.
While it is unclear if the former governor was in on the scheme, Madeline Cuomo made several references to her then-gov brother in several messages.
“I just hung up with A again and he wants you both to know how much he appreciates ALL your hard work and willingness to get this out today on LABOR DAY of all days!!!!” one Sept. 5, 2022, message said.
“You ladies share the same work ethic,” she wrote. “I believe we were all raised quite similarly which accounts for our like-minded sensibilities.
“We all wish we didn’t have to go negative ever,” Madeline Cuomo allegedly wrote. “But it’s clear they’re never going to stop and leave us alone to do GOOD WORK until THEIR truth is exposed.”
Madeline and Andrew Cuomo did not immediately respond to requests for comment from The Post.
However, in a statement to the Times, Madeline Cuomo acknowledged she was active with We Deliver and that she was determined to “protect her family” — but said her brother wasn’t involved.
“I acted on my own with the women of WDNY without his involvement in any way,” she said. “Unfortunately, due to internal dissension, the group fractured and I haven’t worked with the group since.
But she said she had made it clear to the group “that there was a difference between calling into question a person’s credibility and attacking them publicly.”
A spokesman for the former governor told The Post that Cuomo “does not personally have nor does he follow social media accounts, and he was not directly or indirectly involved in these online efforts — when he’s had something to say, he has not held back from doing so publicly.”
