It’s been said that Daniel Jones doesn’t stand out in a crowd.
The Giants and Hugo Boss put that to the test by having Jones go “undercover” as a sales associate at a store to see if fans recognized the Giants’ quarterback.
And that hypothesis about Jones appears correct.
While some fans noticed Jones, others had no idea they were interacting with the Giants’ $160-million quarterback.
It’s fair to assume the same thing wouldn’t happen with Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers.
Jones, dressed in a black “Boss” hoodie and khakis, looked quite at home while attempting to sell shirts, including Giants gear, at the Hugo Boss store inside the American Dream Mall in East Rutherford, N.J.
One shopper, who called himself a “big Giants fan,” did not recognize the former first-round pick standing right in front of him.
Jones eventually asked him, “What do you think about the Giants’ quarterback? You think he’s going to give them a chance this year or …,” but the shopper never appeared again.
A group of three fans interacted with Jones, with one citing the Eagles as his favorite team, and another claiming the Packers.
“Eagles, man … Come on,” Jones said.
Those three fans eventually realized they had an NFL quarterback in front of them.
“I realize who this is,” the Eagles fan said. “Do you know who this is?”
“Oh, s–-t,” his friend said.
The Eagles fan didn’t let the rivalry between the teams prevent him from asking for a photo.
“Can I get a picture with you real quick,” the shopper said. “Man, this is crazy, I’m sorry, this is crazy and you’re tall as hell.”
Jones did at least have one Giants fan immediately recognize him.
“Oh, s–t, that’s Daniel Jones,” the surprised fan said before asking for and taking a selfie with Jones.
That Jones fit in as a sales associate shouldn’t be all that surprising since the quarterback’s usual pregame attire – backpack and all – usually makes him seem as if he’s headed to his 9-to-5 job or shuffling his way around campus between classes.
He’s not one for outlandish outfits.
And we now know that Jones will be fine as a Hugo Boss salesman if the whole quarterbacking thing doesn’t work out for him.
