Joe’s rejection of Hochul plea: Letters to the Editor — Aug. 15, 2023

The Issue: President Biden’s rejection of Gov. Hochul’s request to house migrants at Floyd Bennett Field.

The reason President Biden is ignoring New York’s pleas for assistance in dealing with the migrant problem is because he would have to admit that his immigration policy is a failure (“Base hit,” Aug. 14).

He is peddling a lie that there is no crisis, when in fact there is one. He’s a typical Democratic politico: Make a mess, walk away and let someone else clean it up.

What a dream it would be to have a governor and mayor who promote safety and reward prosperity.

Gov. Hochul requested permission from the White House to place illegal immigrants, whom we know nothing about, at Floyd Bennett Field in Brooklyn, near where our youth gather for sports events.

How dare she. I still can’t believe she was voted in as governor, but I guess that’s what I get for living in New York.

There will be more exodus from New York to come as she continues to live the high life.

Biden told Hochul (and New York) to pound sand and rejected her request to use Floyd Bennett Field as a place to house migrants as the crisis grows.

So, let’s see: Because you are a Democrat, god forbid you should go against any decision your great party leaders make. Why? Because you must agree with anything Democratic leaders say, even if goes against the best interests of your constituents.

Neither Mayor Adams nor Hochul seems willing to say anything against the president, no matter how much this hurts the citizens of New York. Has anyone heard a word from our great senators? It’s been crickets.

I say gas up the buses and start moving the migrants to Delaware. Until that happens, nothing will be done to stem this crisis.

After Biden’s refusal to help New York with the migrant housing issue at Floyd Bennett Field, the state has two options.

The first option is to close the public streets around Floyd Bennett Field and put up tents around the airfield.

The second is to send non-housed migrants to Washington, DC with a note: “Please find housing for these poor individuals. We are full.”

In the wake of the Biden administration’s refusal to compensate Gotham for bearing a notable share of this manufactured migrant mess, and the nixing of Hochul’s practical idea of using Floyd Bennett Field to help house this unsustainable flow of migrants, the mayor and the governor need to play hardball.

Why not bus these migrants into Biden’s Delaware turf?

Also, Adams should not be looking to shelter these “asylum seekers” on some Randall’s Island soccer fields. They should be bused to Rikers Island instead — where a ready-made housing infrastructure exists.

But the Delaware alternative would, no doubt, send the right message to this abysmal “Americans last” regime

First and foremost, let’s call this crisis what it is: an invasion of our sovereign nation. The migrants should be bused back to Mexico, and then Mexico can bus them back to their country of origin.

That said, it’s time to bus illegal immigrants to Delaware. C’mon, New York, show some chops: Remove the sanctuary city status from New York, which has become a spiraling cesspool of far-leftists — or as I describe them, the anti-Americans. They call themselves Democrats. Who is kidding who?

Instead of housing immigrants in city neighborhoods, where there will be no control of their behavior and movement, here’s an idea: Why not house them on Governors Island?

No one lives there, it’s only accessible by ferry and it is a large enough island to accommodate most, if not all, of those who have come here.
