There are burglars on the loose in Los Angeles, and they appear to have specific targets: Dodgers stars.
According to TMZ, Freddie Freeman and Max Muncy’s homes have been burglarized over the past month, prompting a police investigation.
Robbers broke into Muncy’s home last week as the infielder was leaving Dodger Stadium with his family, per the report.
Muncy’s alarm company reportedly alerted him of the break-in and the burglars were spotted on camera “ransacking” the home before escaping prior to the cops’ arrival, TMZ said.
It’s not clear what was taken from the Muncy household, per the report.
Freeman’s home was broken into last month, though cops are not yet if the two incidents are explicitly related.
The police are investigating both cases in an effort to see if the burglars are targeting athletes or if the break-ins were random.
Both Freeman and Muncy are in the midst of successful seasons as the Dodgers — winners of 11 of their last 12 games — are 76-47 and in comfortable possession of the NL West lead.
Freeman, 33, has been spectacular: the former MVP is hitting .333/.411/.575 with 23 homers, making him the seventh most valuable position player in the league, per Baseball Reference.
Since the seven-time All-Star signed a six-year, $162 million contract with the Dodgers prior to the 2022 season, he has been brilliant, compiling a .948 OPS over that time.
Muncy, 32, is authoring a different kind of successful season, hitting just .198 but blasting 29 homers, bringing his OPS to an above-average .799.
The infielder, a two-time All-Star, resurrected his career with the Dodgers in 2018, when he signed with Los Angeles following two disappointing years in Oakland to immediately emerge as an MVP candidate in Dodger blue.
Muncy has played six seasons for the Dodgers and hit 168 home runs with an .842 OPS while playing all around the infield.
