Colts rookie Anthony Richardson taunts Eagles fans with TD celebration

Anthony Richardson may want to watch out he next time he’s in Philadelphia.

The Colts rookie quarterback made sure to really endear himself to the Eagles crowd during Indianapolis’ 27-13 preseason win at Lincoln Financial Field.

After taking Indianapolis down the field for a 52-yard touchdown drive, Richardson celebrated by flapping his arms and looking into the crowd, mimicking the well-known Eagles celebration.

“I was just having fun,” he said. “I hope nobody takes it the wrong way.”

The Eagles had struck first, but Richardson marched the Colts back the other way on the six-play drive, and capping it off by handing the ball to running back Deon Jackson for a three-yard touchdown scamper, setting off an overjoyed Richardson.

The dance quickly spread across social media.

“I love this kid Anthony Richardson. ‘Fly Pigeons Fly’ #ForTheShoe,” one user on X, formerly Twitter, wrote

“Anthony Richardson has no idea what he’s just done,” Philadelphia radio host Devan Kaney wrote

Named the starter after the preseason opener at Buffalo, Richardson completed 6 of 17 passes for 78 yards and ran five times for 38 yards in the first half.

The 6-foot-4 passer was the No. 4 overall pick out of Florida.

Some of his elite skills, which helped make him the No. 4 overall pick in this year’s draft, were on display in the exhibition tilt.

The 21-year-old completed 6 of 17 passes for 78 yards in the first half and ran for 38 yards on five carries in the Colts’ preseason finale.

The Eagles and Colts already had some bad blood brewing after things got heated at a joint practice when Jason Kelce and Zaire Franklin scuffled during the session.

Kelce later owned up to the incident and called a hit he made a “cheap shot.”

The Colts open their season on Sept. 10 with Richardson getting the chance to begin his NFL career at home against AFC South rival Jacksonville.

The Colts are not slated to face the Eagles during the regular season, which means any ill will that surfaced from Richardson’s jab at Philadelphia will have to wait for another season — or during a Super Bowl matchup.
