Massive python wrangled in Texas parking lot by cop dubbed the ‘snake whisperer’

A Texas cop has been dubbed a “snake whisperer” after coming to the rescue of a woman whose car was blocked inside a parking space by a massive python.
The Irving Police Department received a call Tuesday from a frantic woman who said the slithery serpent was keeping her from reaching her car in a parking lot.
Fortunately, Officer Steve Burres — who has experience handling rogue serpents — was on duty that day.
“Our officers have many hidden talents,” the Irving Police Department wrote on social media.
“Officer Burres is our snake whisperer. His hidden talent is handling any wildlife call that may come our way, especially the snake calls.”
Burres has a track record of capturing reptiles “in places they shouldn’t have been,” the department said.
“In this instance, a call came in that someone couldn’t get into their car because of this mighty snake.”
Bodycam footage of the slippery situation shows Burres grabbing ahold of the scaled reptile, which he quickly identified as a python.
In the footage, Burres can be heard asking the woman if she has any neighbors who may have had a pet escape before noting it must be as that type of snake is not native to Texas.
“My God, what a beautiful snake,” Burres says after securing the creature. “He is pretty.”
Burres holds the snake as it squirms on the ground before exclaiming, “He’s got an ungodly amount of teeth.”
Responding officers noted the snake had to be at least 6 feet in length.
After capturing the snake, officers called local wildlife protection officials who helped to remove the python from the parking lot.
Police later noted on Facebook that the snake, which they nicknamed “Ms. Bonnie,” ended up being over 8 feet in length — two feet longer than what is legal in Irving.
Since Ms. Bonnie was longer than 6 feet, she was placed at a wildlife rehabilitation sanctuary, police said.
