Sharna Burgess in ‘shock’ not to be invited back to ‘Dancing With the Stars’
They didn’t save the last dance for her.
Sharna Burgess, 38, who has been a professional dancer on the cast of ABC’s “Dancing With the Stars” for 14 seasons, has announced that she’s “shocked” and “disappointed” that the show declined to invite her back for Season 32.
“Working through my feelings of disappointment about DWTS,” she said in an Instagram post on Tuesday, adding a teaser of a clip from “Old-ish,” her podcast with Randy Spelling and her boyfriend, Brian Austin Green, 50.
“When we recorded a few days ago I was definitely still processing but trying to do it with a little grace and find my gratitude,” she wrote. “We talk about my last five years with the show and how (difficult) they’ve felt, how I feel not being asked, my insecurities that arise.”
Burgess won Season 27 of the competition show with her celeb dance partner, Bobby Bones, and she also competed in Season 29 with Jesse Metcalfe and Season 30 with Green.
The dancer and the “Beverly Hills, 90210” actor have been romantically linked since 2020, when Green was still in the middle of his divorce with Megan Fox, 37, with whom he has three sons.
He also has another son with his ex-fiancée, Vanessa Marcil.
Green and Burgess welcomed a son, Zane Walker Green, in June 2022.
Burgess, who was born and raised in Australia and has also been a judge on the Australian version of “Dancing With the Stars,” became an American citizen last October.
Burgess noted that it was “definitely a huge shock” to not make the cut this time around. “Last season, I was supposed to come back, but Zane was only 8 weeks old. It just felt like I needed to sit in motherhood with Zane, it was my first baby,” she explained, noting that she told producers that she’d “want to come back next year.”
According to Burgess, they told her, “Of course, we love you, we’ll always have you.”
But this year, the dancer said, she was blindsided.
“It got to the week of everyone getting their phone calls. And I realized, when those spots were all filled, ‘Oh my God, I didn’t get the call!'” she recalled.
“Because it was such a shock, because I wasn’t expecting it, it was tough. It’s not the first time. My last five years on the show have been rocky — not because of the show. I love the show deeply, but we had a new executive producer come in, I think five years ago now. I had just won with Bobby Bones and he decided to not bring me back,” said Burgess. “There’s a lot of speculation as to why.”
While the full cast of the upcoming Season 32 will be announced on Wednesday, it has already been confirmed that Jamie Lynn Spears will compete.
Reps from “Dancing With the Stars” did not respond when The Post reached out for comment.
