At least the Jets would know where to find Carson Wentz.
The free-agent quarterback made his latest pitch to return to the NFL while promoting his “Wentz Bros Outdoors” hunting show.
Wentz, according to a screen grab from NFL Network’s Andrew Siciliano, posted an Instagram Story of him over an 8-point buck.
“Throwin’ darts in the woods while waiting to throw darts on Sundays,” Wentz wrote over the post.
The @wentzbrosoutdoors Instagram page, captioned the photo: “(Carson Wentz) got it done and arrowed this mature 8 pointer over the weekend in Kentucky! What a way to kick off the hunting season.”
Wentz has always been an outdoorsman from his time in college as the North Dakota State quarterback, but he seems to be leaning into a bit more now.
His last two NFL seasons with the Colts and Commanders are hard to categorize as anything other than a resounding failure.
Both teams traded draft picks to acquire Wentz, but both moved on after one disappointing season.
Wentz was emerging as one off the top young quarterbacks in the game before suffering a torn ACL near the end of the 2017 season.
Wentz was the clear MVP favorite at the time, but would miss the rest of the season, while backup Nick Foles led the team to a shocking Super Bowl victory over the Patriots.
Wentz played three more seasons in Philadelphia after that, though never reached the level of greatness he seemed destined for prior to the injury and became a divisive figure among the team’s fan base.
As a member of the Commanders, Wentz threw 11 touchdowns and nine interceptions and accrued 1,755 passing yards in eight games.
He lost his starting job to Taylor Heinicke when he suffered a broken finger in a Week 6 win over the Bears.
Heinicke, though, was able to keep the job until Week 16.
Wentz took back over, lost two more games that ended Washington’s playoff run and the team decided to hand the offense over to rookie Sam Howell.
For now, it appears that Wentz may be out of NFL chances.
Aside from some casual Chiefs interest this offseason, the rumor mill has been bare for Wentz.
Of course, new injuries can arise each week in the NFL and one just did.
The Jets could be in the market for his services without their star, Aaron Rodgers, who played for just four snaps before rupturing his Achilles tendon.
For now, the Jets are backing Zach Wilson as their starter.
