You can see Disney World’s fireworks from this $19.5M Florida mansion

Who doesn’t need 16 bathrooms?

Especially in a 14-bedroom, 14,706 square-foot mansion like Entrelagos — a one-of-a-kind, custom-built home on the market in Orlando, Florida. It just re-listed for sale asking $19.5 million, a price drop from $25 million.

Set on a private peninsula, Entrelagos is as unique as it is lavish, with stunning hand-carved woodwork and bespoke mosaics lining an interior that honors the current owners’ Filipino roots.

“The house was designed and planned from the ground up,” said listing agent, Richard Dempsey of SVN, Saunders Ralston Dantzler Real Estate. “The sellers began building the home in the early 2000s and it took a great deal of time to complete.”

With such intricate artistic detailing, it’s easy to see why. Hand-carved narra wood — a wood native to the Philippines and the southern Pacific — graces practically every room, including the home theater, the billiards room and the two-story rotunda library, whose floors are connected by a spiral staircase.

“The wood carvings were hand carved by Filipino artisans from the owners’ designs and shipped to the United States,” Dempsey said. “Columns throughout the house are carved with animals and flowers. It is very beautiful. Every room has a specific theme,” he added.

“The movie theater has double sliding doors carved with around 20 characters, like Bart Simpson, Marlon Brando and The Beatles,” said Dempsey. “The game room has columns depicting different card and board games. There are chess pieces — it’s all so intricately carved.”

There’s also beautiful mosaic tiling, one depicting a map of the Philippine Islands, and also a handmade tapestry-style carpet.

“On the walkway on the top floor, the very long carpeting is hand-sewn needlepoint depicting Asiatic themes,” Dempsey said.

“My favorite room is the library — it is two stories high and open to two floors. It’s just remarkable. The carvings in the columns there refer to classic literature — such as Moby Dick. The first time I saw it I thought this is among the most spectacular rooms I’ve ever seen.”

The artistic detailing runs inside and out, with custom ironwork throughout the estate, including inside on the grand staircase, spiral staircases and the main interior balcony. The house’s exterior grand columns are made from hand-hewn coquina rock, a feature virtually impossible to replicate now — coquina is no longer mined due to environmental concerns.

Equally impressive, the three-level pool has waterfalls connecting each area. There’s a spa and a steam room, plus a cabana bar with a full outdoor kitchen and a full bathroom.

“The pool house has a mosaic in the kitchen depicting the view of the lake before the building went up. It is very specific in its detailing,” said Dempsey.

Situated at 9291 Point Cypress Drive, Entrelagos is around a 30-minute drive from the Orlando airport, and around 10 minutes from Universal Studios Florida and Disney World parks, the latter evident each night on the property’s third-floor rooftop lounge.

“The party deck as I call it. You can see both lakes from there; at night you see the fireworks at Disney,” said Dempsey.

As its name suggests, Entrelagos — “between lakes” — is located between Lake Sheen and Tibet, which are part of the 13 lakes that make up the Butler Chain of Lakes. The 2.44-acre grounds include a two-slip dock on Lake Tibet with an entertainment lounge, rebuilt after last year’s hurricane damage — “This property is at a high enough elevation to prevent water damage,” said Dempsey.

There’s also a three-bedroom guest house with two bathrooms and an apartment over the garage where the current caretakers live. The couple, said Dempsey, know and care for the property very well and would be glad to stay on, he added.

Entrelagos isn’t the priciest or the most jaw-dropping mansion in this coveted Windermere neighborhood — the splashy 90,000-square-foot, 10-acre Versailles — owned by David and Jackie Siegel, and the star of the Discovery+ show, “Queen of Versailles Reigns Again” — ranks tops.

The less showy Entrelagos is a bit more cozy and will likely attract a certain type of buyer: someone with Filipino roots perhaps, says Dempsey. Or someone who appreciates Asiatic art. It will definitely be an upper-income home hunter, he adds.

“The buyer will be somebody who appreciates that type of artist,” said Dempsey. “But I am sure it is someone who fits this community. It is a high-net-worth community of what I call one-name people: Tiger, Shaquille. Both had homes here … There are a lot of pro athletes in the area. It might be a primary residence or a secondary place,” he added.

Besides the lavish decor and design flourishes, the added lure for celebs is the property’s utter privacy.

“It offers remarkable privacy,” said Dempsey. “I live locally and would talk to people about the property before it came on the market: few know it’s even here. It’s down a long drive you’d only travel down if you were going to the house. It’s very hard to replicate this level of privacy in this part of the world.”

Adding to that delicious solitude is an adjacent empty 1-acre lot, which is part of the estate and has not been developed at all.

“It is completely separate,” said Dempsey. “It can be sold, but this current owner had no intention of selling it off. They wanted it to be an added privacy buffer.”
