“Real Housewives of New York City” star Jessel Taank – who sat front row at the glittering Falguni Shane Peacock runway extravaganza along with Nick Cannon, Bre Tiesi and Kylie Cantrall – has been candid about her infertility struggles on the rebooted reality series.
“I don’t regret anything that I’ve said or done on the show, and I’m a polarizing personality in that way,” she told The Post’s Alexa.
Despite overwhelming support from the public, Taank said that she had received some negative feedback from the South Asian community for sharing her IVF journey.
“There’s definitely a big shock factor in all of it, because as Indians we’re very private and we don’t talk about that type of stuff,” she said. “It’s considered taboo. It’s one of the reasons I didn’t tell my family.
“A lot of people have been like, ‘Thank god you’re opening up. We need to talk about this stuff.’ On the flip side, I think a lot of women have been like, ‘Oh, I wouldn’t have done that.’ It’s still very much that traditional train of thought. Each to their own.”
Taank, the mother of twin toddlers Kai and Rio, said that she wants to continue the IVF dialogue. “A lot of women go through it and maybe they’re not as vocal as I am. I do think that it’s important to have a support system and it’s important to normalize it. I went through three or four years of it. I spent my thirties basically trying to get pregnant.”
The London-raised tastemaker wore a black sparkly Falguni Shane Peacock number to the event. “Image architect” Law Roach, the man behind Zendaya’s acclaimed red carpet looks, served as creative director of the show. He announced in March that he was retiring from dressing celebrities, but not from fashion.
A brand consultant and publicist, Taank is used to working the shows. “I’m usually backstage and doing the seating charts,” she said with a laugh. Now, she added, “I get to wear the clothes.”
