The Rockets are trying to unload Kevin Porter Jr. in the wake of disturbing allegations against the guard.
According to a Wednesday report by The Athletic’s Shams Charania, Houston has talked with multiple teams and has offered draft compensation to take on Porter after he allegedly assaulted his girlfriend, ex-WNBA player Kysre Gondrezick, at a Manhattan hotel on Monday.
The Rockets, according to Charania, are looking for a player under contract that could help them in 2023-24, as Porter is set to make a fully guaranteed $15.9 million this year.
Porter was charged with assault and strangulation, cops said this week after the alleged incident at the four-star Millennium Hilton New York Hotel at 1 UN Plaza in Midtown.
Sources told The Post after the arrest that when authorities showed up on the scene, Gondrezick had a cut on her face and was suffering from neck pain.
It was later revealed she had a broken bone in her neck after the alleged assault.
Gondrezick told authorities that Porter struck her with a closed fist multiple times, prosecutors said.
Porter was released on $75,000 bail, and Gondrezick was granted a full temporary restraining order against him by Judge Michael Ryan in Manhattan Criminal Court.
