Woody Johnson twinning with Sexyy Red at the Jets’ season opener on Monday is probably the last thing anyone would have expected.
Both the Jets owner, 76, and rapper, 25, rocked diamond necklaces that featured their names during the team’s home opener against the Bills at MetLife Stadium.
Johnson’s ice included a “Woody and the Jets” pendant on a link chain while Sexyy Red’s “Big Sexyy” bling was layered over a diamond Hello Kitty necklace.
Jets fans got a glimpse of Johnson’s jewelry on an episode of HBO’s “Hard Knocks” last month, when he said he was inspired by the team to purchase the necklace.
While on the sidelines Monday night, Johnson had a friendly exchange with Sexyy Red, born Janae Nierah Wherry, and posed for photos together before the Jets’ 22-16 overtime win.
“THANK YOU @nyjets FOR INVITING ME TO MY FIRST FOOTBALL GAME,” the performer wrote on Instagram, where she posted photos and videos from the Week 1 matchup.
“IM HAVIN SO MUCH FUN.”
Sexyy Red, who wore a bedazzled Jets jersey that featured Sauce Gardner’s No. 1, also shared a hug with the star Jets cornerback on the sidelines.
The rapper gushed over her VIP experience with the Jets in a series of posts on social media.
“We have glizzys, guacamole — we living, baby,” Sexyy Red said in a video from a private suite.
“The Jets are feeding me so good. Praise the Lord.
“The Jets invited me out. We representing the Jets tonight. We outside, we rich now, huh? We back stage and s–t.”
“Come back again,” the Jets wrote in the comments with a green heart emoji.
The team also shared a video of Sexyy Red on the sidelines in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Elsewhere at MetLife Stadium, Sexyy Red posed for photos with rapper YG and ran into Teyana Taylor in the back hallways of the venue.
Warning: Explicit language
Sexyy Red’s music was featured in the latest season of “Hard Knocks,” which followed the Jets throughout training camp in Florham Park, N.J., ahead of the 2023 season.
Running back Michael Carter yelled to the DJ to play the performer’s song “SkeeYee,” and Gardner followed suit.
“Why is this so catchy, though?” Gardner asked before head coach Robert Saleh said, “This is my jam right here. Y’all don’t know nothing about this s–t.”
Gardner then objected when the DJ lowered the volume at training camp.
“Why you shutting that down?” Gardner asked while Jets linebacker Quincy Williams said, “Ain’t’ no way he just did that.”
So, it was only right Sexyy Red attended her first football game as a guest of the Jets.
