Zach Wilson’s mom didn’t seem too happy after seeing the Jets quarterback get hit in the head with a water bottle after their overtime win against the Bills on “Monday Night Football.”
Lisa Wilson took to her Instagram Stories on Tuesday night and shared a screengrab of a post on X (formerly Twitter) from someone who called out Jets fans after Wilson appeared to get plunked with a plastic water bottle.
“That happened after they won the game,” Lisa wrote. “Hit him right in the head.”
She added, “Awesome,” with a thumbs-up emoji.
“WTF is this @nyjets??” the X user wrote in their post, including a screen grab of Wilson walking off the field.
“Fans threw a water bottle at Zach as he walked into the tunnel. Horrible fanbase.”
Wilson has yet to address the incident.
That came after Lisa shared an emotional message on her Instagram Story about Aaron Rodgers, who suffered a torn Achilles in Monday’s season opener.
Wilson, the Jets’ third-year quarterback, took over for the four-time MVP and helped his team to a wild 22-16 overtime win against the Bills.
“Last night did not go as we expected,” Lisa said. “I kind of thought this was going to be a year of development, and growing, and learning — and we were all going to get and sit and watch this amazing connection that Aaron and Zach have.
“Aaron has been so, so good to Zach and he’s been just really such an amazing support and holding his hand through all of it and he’s been learning so much and that quickly came to an end and my heart breaks for Aaron because I know how much he loves this game.”
Lisa went on to gush over how proud she is of her son.
“Zach went in there and he hadn’t really played all week but he had to get up and do it and he had to play hard, and I’m so of proud of him,” she said.
“But as a mother of athletes, it’s not a walk in the park, it’s really, really stressful.”
After Rodgers’ Achilles injury was confirmed, head coach Robert Saleh said Tuesday the Jets are riding with Wilson as their starting quarterback.
“We are going to look through some things, but I’m going to be very clear, Zach is our quarterback,” Saleh said.
Right now, the Jets don’t have a second quarterback on their roster.
Tim Boyle is on the practice squad.
The Jets visit Dallas in Week 2 on Sept. 17.
