Amazon driver in ‘serious condition’ after ‘highly venomous’ rattlesnake bite

An Amazon driver is in serious condition at the hospital after getting bitten by a massive, “highly venomous” rattlesnake while delivering a package in Florida.

The horror attack was detailed recently in a Facebook post by the Martin County Sheriff’s Office.

The incident occurred on Monday while the unidentified female courier was dropping off a parcel at a home in Palm City, about 105 miles north of Miami.

Unfortunately, she failed to see the giant Eastern Diamondback Rattlesnake — the United States’ largest venomous snake, which can grow up to eight feet long — that was coiled up near the front door, as seen in accompanying Facebook photos.

“The driver walked to the door, put the package down and was struck by the snake in the back of the leg, just above the knee,” the Sheriff’s Office wrote.

Following the bite, the woman immediately felt ill and dialed emergency services.

They were able to track the driver down through her cellphone’s GPS coordinates and send help to her location.

The bite victim was subsequently whisked to the hospital, where she remains in serious condition.

Unfortunately, diamondbacks — named for the pattern on their body — are arguably one of the most dangerous reptiles in the US.

Along with packing potent venom, this denizen of the Southeastern US also injects a lot of toxin in each bite, which can prove fatal to people if they don’t receive treatment fast.

This isn’t the first time a delivery driver has encountered a venomous rattlesnake during a drop-off.

Last month, a FedEx courier named Matt Govier was filmed nearly stumbling over a Prairie Rattlesnake that was lurking on a woman’s front porch in Nebraska.

Fortunately, in this instance, the deliveryman was able to dispatch the serpent with a shovel, before using a rake to dispose of the corpse.
