Lindsey Vonn reveals jellyfish nightmare: ‘Gonna leave a mark’

Lindsey Vonn’s latest adventure certainly left its mark.

The former Olympic skier revealed this week she was stung by a jellyfish while wake surfing, sharing photos of the experience and its painful aftermath Wednesday on Instagram.

“What started off as a great day ended in a giant jellyfish sting/bite,” the 38-year-old Vonn wrote in the post’s caption.

“I literally rode over it as I was getting up on the wake surf board.”

The three-time Olympic medalist then thanked “everyone who gave advice on remedies,” which appeared to stem from a previous Instagram Story, according to People.

“Think it’s gonna leave a mark for a while … at least I caught some waves before!” she exclaimed.

Vonn gave followers a glimpse of the injury in her post, with red marks seen on her leg.

The athlete then received an outpouring of supportive messages from fans.

“Ouch. I’m sure a few spills on the mountain were worse,” one Instagram user commented, adding, “You’re the toughest girl I know.”

Another posted, “Nothing will ever hold you back or keep you down for long.”

Although one follower insisted she wear a wet suit while surfing, Vonn elaborated on the conditions she was riding in.

“The water is close to 100 degrees. Idk if I can put on a wet suit… global warming at its finest,” she posted.

The injury comes just a few weeks after Vonn underwent knee surgery in late July.

“I got another surgery because I’ve been dealing with all the damage from my ski racing career and have been trying to manage the pain as best I can. This surgery is hopefully a big step to help me long term. We still have work to do, and most likely another surgery, but I hope this will help me for a bit,” she posted on Instagram at the time.

“Feeling excited about this step and hopefully being in less pain so I can do the things I love.”

Vonn retired from skiing in 2019, stating how her “body is broken beyond repair.”

“It’s been an emotional 2 weeks making the hardest decision of my life, but I have accepted that I cannot continue ski racing,” she previously posted on Instagram.

Since hanging up her skis, Vonn has been enjoying life beyond the slopes, spending time with loved ones and traveling to dreamy locales.
