Mom, teen daughter and pet dog found dead in NYC home in horrific scene

A mother and her teenage daughter were discovered dead alongside their dog in a horrific scene inside their Brooklyn home Monday, police said.

The bodies of the 37-year-old woman and her 14-year-old daughter were discovered inside their New York Avenue home in the borough’s Little Haiti section around 4:30 p.m. when a friend went to check on the family after not hearing from them since Friday, according to police and sources.

The mother’s body was found face up in the living room with a slash wound to the face, while her daughter was found face down with head trauma, law enforcement sources said.

Their dog’s body was next to them with a bag over its head, according to the sources.

A police source described the scene as particularly gruesome and bloody.

Police had responded to the location Friday morning after a downstairs neighbor, Steve Schor, called 911 when he heard screams, but nobody answered the door.

“My wife and I woke up in bed [there was] screaming, banging, dogs screaming and whining,” recalled Schor, 38. “They knocked on the door, they didn’t get an answer,” he said, referring to the cops.

“And then I come home today to all this,” said Schor.

Police are investigating the deaths. Sources said the tragedy could be the result of a murder-suicide.
